Chevrolet Caprice Police and Detective Patrol Cars Appear on eBay

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Selasa, 08 Mei 2012 | 12.32

While General Motors never intended to offer the Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle (PPV) to the public, used examples of the Holden-based and built large sedan can be found on eBay.

As a matter of fact, there are three Chevrolet Caprice currently up for grabs on the popular online marketplace including two PPVs, one in white and the other painted in the traditional black and white colors (without any emblems, of course), and a stealthier model with the Detective Package.

All three Caprice models are powered by GM's 6.0-liter V8 engine with 355 horsepower and 384 lb-ft torque, hooked up to a six-speed automatic driving the rear wheels.

The Chevrolet Caprice is based on the Australian market Holden Caprice, without all the bells and whistles. The Caprice itself is a long-wheelbase version of the Commodore and Pontiac G8 models.

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Kamis, 03 Mei 2012 | 10.37

The ascent of electric vehicles has posed the question of how they will be charged as each automaker had developed its own technique, but that is the equivalent of having different fuel ports on gasoline-powered models.

One of the answers to this question comes from eight major automakers from the United States and Germany that have agreed upon a common fast-charging technology for use on electric vehicles in Europe and the United States.

Watch Lizzy Musi's Crash from Multiple Angles and How the Cameraman Jumped at the Last Moment

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Rabu, 02 Mei 2012 | 07.50

On April 20, Lizzy Musi made the news when the 21-year old drag racer and daughter of veteran racer Pat Musi lost control of her 1968 Chevrolet Camaro during the third qualifying session of Summit Racing Top Sportsman at the 2012 ADRL Spring Drags III at Bristol Dragway.

The Camaro turned sideways and went airborne before it violently crashed onto the left wall. To make a bad situation even worse, Musi's car headed towards the camera operator positioned behind the concrete wall before coming to a stop in the grass on the side of the track.

In this new video that contains footage from multiple angles, we see the crash in detail and how the camera operator literally jumped over the wall at the last moment (see 2:35" into the clip), a move that most certainly saved his life.

Amazingly, no one got hurt from the forceful accident. You can watch the video footage for yourself right past the break.

Chevrolet Orlando Proves it's a Man's Car, Fits 11 Canadians in its Trunk

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Kamis, 26 April 2012 | 13.11

His name is Bond, Phillipe Bond, and from what we gather, he is licensed by General Motors Canada to do just about anything to promote the Chevrolet brand's products.

After receiving a body wax from a Chevrolet Sonic, the French Canadian artist from Quebec tried something a little more intense for his second sketch. Once again, Bond was dressed in a speedo, but this time, he had to oil up and get into the trunk of a Chevrolet Orlando minivan (not offered in the States) with 11 more men.

You'll find the video right past the jump.

Chevrolet Prepares Consumers for U.S. Arrival of Diesel-Powered Cruze with Facts and Figures

Ask any European about the benefits of diesel engines in passenger cars and invariably the answer will be about fuel efficiency and increased reliability over gasoline units.

It has taken Americans more than two decades to re-embrace diesel engines after a catastrophic attempt in the 1980s, but thanks to German automakers like Volkswagen, Mercedes and BMW, and let's not forget, the rising cost of fuel, oil burners are on the menu again.

While das Germans have done most of the job of informing U.S. consumers about the new generation of diesels and how they differ from their sooty and finicky counterparts of the past, GM took a moment to introduce its side of the story as it prepares for the domestic launch of the Cruze Diesel, which arrives next year.

GM's Spark-o-Graphic Compares America's 1970's Sedans with Today's Small Cars

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Rabu, 25 April 2012 | 13.14

Back in the 1960s and even more so in the first half of the 1970s, American automakers produced some of the largest mainstream cars ever, before the oil crisis put an end to these dinosaurs of the automobile industry.

General Motors, of course, was no exception. One example is the fifth generation of the Chevrolet Impala that measured a whopping 222.0 inches (5,639 mm) long.

On the occasion of the U.S. launch of its new 2013 Chevrolet Spark, the Detroit carmaker released an info graphic comparing the city car with the average American sedan in the early 1970s.

SCOOP: 2014 Corvette C7 Captured on Camera on the Road

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Kamis, 19 April 2012 | 07.05

We know the seventh generation of GM's flagship sports car, the Corvette, is just around the corner and that it will arrive sometime in the first half of 2013, but one YouTube user had the unique opportunity to see the car up close and on the road.

The good news is that he was able to film a short clip, the bad news being that he did it with a mobile phone without turning it sideways… Nonetheless, the video is worth 30 seconds of your time.

Make Your Car Sound Like a Lamborghini Gallardo for only 99¢ [Videos]

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Jumat, 13 April 2012 | 16.13

True, there are some ways to make your car's engine sound more sonorous, but there's really so much you can do for example to a Chevy Aveo or a Toyota Prius.

Furthermore, with a starting price of 99 cents, 2XCL Games' new XLR8 (get it; accelerate) sounds like a sweet bargain compared to the cost(s) of an actual mechanical component.

The XLR8 is an app available for Apple's iPhone and iPad as well as Android phones and tablets that promises to make your vehicle sound like an exotic Italian supercar, a muscle car or even a racing model.

After you download the application and place the phone in your vehicle, you simply connect the device to the audio system and you're ready to go – just don’t forget to roll up your windows…

"Once secured inside your vehicle, XLR8 uses the accelerometers of your device to realistically respond to acceleration, braking and cornering forces," explains the software provider. "It supports both cabled and wireless Bluetooth audio connections to your car stereo."

Good car I must sell, Chevrolet Cruze Eco, 2011 model year, gets 40 mpg on the freeway, owned exactly one year, 18,000 miles

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Senin, 02 April 2012 | 21.07

This Cruze Eco model is the lightweight, no spare tire, lightweight rims, built in aerodynamic variation blades in the grill to vary the amount of air into the radiator and lessen the drag coefficient when at higher speeds.

It's all made to get you better gas mileage than the ridiculously twice as expensive hybrid cars... no joke.

I just spent all Saturday cleaning and detailing the interior, it looks as good as the day I got it from Courtesy Chevrolet here in San Diego's Mission Valley, last April.

It has a dash pad to keep the sun from damaging the dash, and the front seat had covers on til last week... I forgot to take off the seat uppers, so those too are immaculate.

XM/Sirius, all the AC/PS/PB stuff, USB link and Blutooth link from your cell to the car stereo, the back seat has never been used, nothing's ever been spilled in it, and it's got all the paperwork from the dealership since day one. Window sticker, booklets for all the OnStar, XM/Sirius, etc etc.

1.4 liter turbo engine, 6 speed manual with overdrive, front wheel drive with traction control, and here is the PRAISE from Car and Driver magazine http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2011-chevrolet-cruze-eco-drive-chevy-cruze-review on a drive from Los Angeles to San Diego in a manual-equipped Eco, the (probably optimistic) trip computer showed an average of 43.8 mpg, with most of our cruising done at 80 mph with the air conditioning on

email me at jbohjkl@yahoo.com if you want to buy it, taking over payments is cool too, this car is financed through GM Financial / Ally whatever they call themselves, and if you have good credit like I do, I'd guess you'd get the 1.9 or 2.9 % I did. No, I don't remember which one it was, it doesn't matter that much to me which one, they are both good, and this isn't a house where the tenths of a % matter.
