The Chrysler Group has posted a voluntary safety recall of 119,700 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger sedans from the 2011 and 2012 model years because of a potential problem with the power distribution center that could overheat causing the anti-locking braking system (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC) to fail. least expensive and very competitive way to get into vintage racing like the Mille Miglia, Le Mans Classic, and Targa Florio... or car events like the Grand National Roadster Show, a '29 Chrysler model 77 Le Mans Roadster

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Kamis, 03 Mei 2012 | 20.38

for less than $100,000, this Chrysler will get you access to the word's best historic rallies, races and tours and provide you with one of the most reliable, competitive and beautiful pre-war vehicles ever built!

This Chrysler is able to out perform and certainly able to out-brake the similar era Bentley, Alfa and Bugatti's with incredible reliability and simplicity and it does so at less than 1/10th the price!

Unlike the significantly more expensive Bentley-Bugatti-Alfas of the day, the Chrysler 77 featured full-four-wheel, self adjusting, double leading-shoe hydraulic brakes, both front and rear.  The front axle is tubular and under-slung giving both excellent handling and impossibly good braking that the owner's of the other three mentioned machines only dream about having!  This Chrysler "show-room" ready racer also features simple but full weather protection as well as a sporting, full-folding front wind-screen and an extremely user-friendly, four-speed gearbox rather than the compromising three-speed units usually found on many of the other machines of this era.

In short, this is an all "matching numbers" completely documented, rust and accident free, road-race-car that can be driven every day in the "rear world," toured with and rallied as well as raced competitively in the finest events world-wide.

And it's in need of a new home,

New Chrysler 300C Priced in the UK, Available Only with a Diesel Engine

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Selasa, 01 Mei 2012 | 10.57

While in mainland Europe Chrysler models wear the Lancia badge on their bonnets, in Britain, the American automaker decided to stick to its own brand name.

Making its debut in the UK this June is Chrysler's flagship model, the second generation of the 300C executive saloon that will become available in two diesel-powered versions.

Both models are motivated by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine churning out 236bhp and 540Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque, with the new 300C returning a combined fuel economy of 39.8 mpg UK (33.1mpg US or 7.1lt/100km) and a corresponding CO2 figure of 185-191g/km, depending on wheel size.

Detroit's Big Three Face Significant Problems and Big Loses in Europe

All in all, the US automotive industry is in a very good shape, especially if you consider that three years ago General Motors and Chrysler were one step before closing shop.

General Motors, helped by a raft of new products and Toyota’s production problems, is once again the world’s number one car manufacturer. The Pentastar has tied up with Fiat – and even though the latter was thought to be the knight in shining armor, now it is Chrysler that is bringing in the profits while its Italian partner is struggling.

Chrysler Group Celebrates 2013 Dodge Dart Production Launch with a Giant Wrap

It has become something of a ritual for the Chrysler Group to celebrate a significant event or product launch by decorating its 15-story world headquarters’ building in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The automaker did it when it introduced the latest Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2010, when it won the 2011 Truck of the Year Award and even to display its "Imported from Detroit" tagline for the Chrysler 200.

Now it's time for the all-new and very important from a sales perspective 2013 Dodge Dart to take its place on Chrysler's headquarters via a 116 feet wide and 145 feet tall wrap that reads , “All that matters is what’s ahead,” which is borrowed from the company’s Super Bowl spot, “It’s Halftime in America.”

Colin Bonathan Revisits 2014 Chrysler 200 Sedan Design Study

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Sabtu, 28 April 2012 | 08.01

A design study is not meant to be static, but should be at a constant state of evolution, which is precisely what Lawrence Technological University design student Colin Bonathan is doing with his conceptual renderings for a replacement of the Chrysler 200.

In these latest drawings, which come a little over a month after we showed you Bonathan's previous take on Chrysler's mid-size sedan, we see a different execution of the front- and rear-end designs, while he also made changes to the shape of the roofline and the profile details.

Another forgotten Mopar model, the Conquest TSI. Same as the Mitsubishi Starion, sure, but Mopar anyway. Fast from what I heard, a turbo blast

in 1986 it peaked with a 2.6 liter hemi, turbo charged and intercooled with a 5 speed manual, and had a aero-drag coefficient of .32. As slippery as a Dodge Neon. http://www.allpar.com/cars/chrysler/conquest.html

1971 Plymouth ViperCuda Packs a Venomous V10 Punch Under its Hood

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Kamis, 12 April 2012 | 06.42

One of the great things about classic American pony and muscles cars is their simplicity, which pretty much allows you do anything your mind sets out to do, with the only restrictions usually being the amount of time and cash you are willing to spend.

Found for sale on eBay, is this 1971 Plymouth ViperCuda, which as the name suggests, is powered by a V10 engine sourced from the modern day Dodge Viper. But there's more than meets the eye to this creation that started life as a four-seater 1971 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible with a 318 cu.in. (5.2-liter V8) engine.

The comprehensive conversion was performed by Time Machines from Hudson, Florida, which begun by acquiring the intact chassis and V10 engine from a wrecked 2001 Viper with 23,000-miles on the odo.

After stripping the Barracuda's body from the original chassis, they then fabricated a hybrid platform incorporating most parts of the Viper's chassis components including the fully independent suspension.

Report Says U.S. Automobile Sector Contributed $135 Billion in Taxes in 2010

It’s no secret that the motor vehicle sector is the largest manufacturing industry in the United States, but how big is it in terms of state and federal tax revenues?

This is a question the Center for Automotive Research (CAR), a nonprofit research organization based in Michigan, set to find out on behalf of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, which funded the study.

The report concluded that in 2010, the production, sales and service, and use of the automobile in the United States was responsible for generating at least $91.5 billion in state government tax revenue (13 percent of the total) and at least $43 billion to federal government tax revenues.

A Chrysler Group 1967 Imperial Crown Coupe Looking for a New Home on eBay

Written By Ishimaru Kaito on Senin, 09 April 2012 | 13.59

Once upon a time, the Chrysler Corporation had a luxury marque amongst its ranks called Imperial, which was basically created to compete against GM's Cadillac and Ford's Lincoln brands.

To be more precise, what started out as Chrysler's top of the line model in 1926 was turned into a separate brand from 1955 to 1975, and again for a brief period from 1990 to 1993.

Some of you may also remember the Chrysler Group's more recent attempt to resurrect the Imperial nameplate with a luxury sedan concept at the 2006 North American Auto Show in Detroit.

While surfing around on eBay, a 1967 Imperial Crown Coupe caught our attention. This example was designed under the supervision of Elwood Engel, Chrysler Corporation's design chief from 1961 until 1974. Engel was also responsible for the styling of the iconic, fourth generation 1961 Lincoln Continental.

Chrysler Introduces Industry-First In-Vehicle Wireless Charging Pad

The idea of wireless charging smaller or in some cases, even larger devices is nothing new, but the Chrysler Group wants to be the first to offer such a system on cars through its Mopar division.

General Motors had presented a wireless cell phone mat on a Chevrolet Volt at last year's CES in Las Vegas with the intent to begin offering the system on numerous Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac products from the second half of 2012.

However, the Chrysler Group seems bent to be the first to provide an in-vehicle wireless charging pad as it will make the technology available on the all-new 2013 Dodge Dart that arrives in showrooms in the second quarter of this year.
